I Siap Selem

Today, I will tell you another story that also famous in Bali. This story really loved by children in Bali. I think we can learn that we should be smart to use all the chance of every opportunities which come to us. Hope you also like this story guys!

Once upon a time, there lived a black hen, called I Siap Selem. (siap means chicken; selem means black). She has seven children. The youngest one don't have any feathers who named I Doglagan. I Siap Selem and her children always looking for food in a forest near their house. One day, when they were looking for food in the forest, the sky started to gloomy. The oldest of her children said. "mom, the sky start to gloomy, I think it will make a heavy rain. We should go home now!" another chick said. "Yeah mom, I am scared we maybe get wet." Then, I Siap Selem answered. "What if we take a rest in the house over there near this forest. If we directly go to home, I am worried about I Doglagan who don't have any feathers. He maybe die."

Then, I Siap Selem and her children went to a house near the forest. After they arrived in that house, The rain started heavily. I Siap Selem and her children walked inside the house to shelter. After that, I Siap Selem asked. "Is there anybody here? Then a cat named Meng Kuuk came out. "Yes, I am the owner of this house. What are you doing here?" Then, I Siap Selem said I am sorry to disturb you, I really want to go home but I am worried about my children. Would you like to give a shelter for us just until the rain stop?" Then Meng Kuuk answered. "Never mind, You all can stay overnight here". I Siap Selem so happy. Meng Kuuk prepare her a roo, for her and her children. 

At night, when all of I Siap Selem's children already slept, She  heard Meng kuuk were talking wit her children. "My, Children, We have a really delicious food tonight"

"Yeah, I know mom, I want one of their wing" said one of their children.

"I want their thighs mom!" Said another kitten.

I Siap Selem heard their conversation. I Siap Selem quickly came back to her room and woke her children up. "Listen kids, Meng Kuuk and her children want to eat all of us. So, we have to go out right now from this house one by one throught that window" said I Siap Selem while pointed the window. Then, one by one all of I Siap Selem's children flied out of the window. I Meng Kuuk heard a noises from I Siap Selem's room and wondered what happen. Then, I Meng Kuuk went to I Siap Selem's room and asked from outside. "What with that noises Siap Selem? Is there something happen?" I Siap Selem said. "Nothing. It just the sound of  fallen leaves" Then, now only I Siap Selem and I Doglagan left. I Siap Selem was worried about I Doglagan. Because he did not have any feathers yet. So he cannot fly outside. Then, I Siap Selem told him to stay here and fool I Meng Kuuk by said that his meat is not good to eat yet, he too skinny. She also told I Doglagan to say that Meng Kuuk have to feed him till he get fat. So after he get fat, Meng Kuuk can eat him. 

Then, I Siap Selem hugged I Doglagan. While crying, she flied outside and make a really big noises. I Meng Kuuk heard that noises again. Then, I Meng Kuuk went to I Siap Selem's room again  and asked. "What with that noises Siap Selem? Is there something happen?" But now, nobody answered. Then, I Meng Kuuk went inside the I Siap Selem's room. But nobody was there except I Doglagan.

I Meng Kuuk's children so disappointed because they could not eat their delicious food. One of her children said. "It's okay mom, we still have one chick here. Let's eat him!" I Doglagan so scared but he tried to stay cool and said what his mom told him before. I Meng Kuuk agreed and feed him until he has a lot of feather and fatter. 

"Now, is the time to eat you" said I Meng Kuuk. Then, I Doglagan said, "You have to lift me up to check am I heavy enough to eat or not". After he lifted I Doglagan up, He flied away from I Meng Kuuk and ran as fast as he could. I Meng Kuuk tried to catch him but unfortunately she bumped on a big stone and broke her teeth. 

I Doglagan who saw it from far, laugh out loud. He sang his song to her "Ngik ngak ngik nguk gigi pungak nyaplok batu. Ngik ngak ngik nguk gigi pungak nyaplok batu." ( gigi pungak means broken teeth; nyaplok means eat; batu means stone).
